1. Introduction

Thank you for downloading this release of Sitebuilder 4.1.0 for Linux/Unix. This file contains information that supplements the Sitebuilder 4.1.0 for Linux/Unix documentation, such as requirements, information on new features, corrected bugs, known problems, etc. This file has been updated with the latest information available by release time.

2. Installation Instructions

We strongly recommend that you refer to the product installation instructions and product user manual prior to upgrading/installing and operating Sitebuilder. Refer to the SWsoft web site at http://www.swsoft.com for more information:

2.1. Before Installation

Before starting the installation process, we strongly recommend that you create a full system backup of the previous installation.

2.2. Software Requirements

The following software should be installed in the system prior to the Sitebuilder installation:

PHP 5 with all necessary components is shipped with Sitebuilder.

You can install Sitebuilder in three ways:

  1. Using Autoinstaller
  2. Using native Meta-Package Manager
  3. From Tarball

3. Upgrade Instructions

To be able to upgrade from Sitebuilder 3.x to Sitebuilder 4.x, you need to have active Software Update Service (SUS).

IMPORTANT: If in Sitebuilder 3.x you have the default license installed, then upon upgrading, you will be given the default license for Sitebuilder 4.x. If you have uploaded a regular license in Sitebuilder 3.x, then upon upgrading, an equal 4.x license will be installed (with all the permissions allowed in 3.x, plus new features introduced only since 4.x version).

4.1. Sitebuilder 4.1.0 build 07121000

  1. [+] Sitebuilder Updates - Automatic retrieval and one-click installation.

  2. [+] Open Fusion - Global Account Management - Global Account is a Single Sign-On technology feature that allows users to log in to different SWsoft products using a single global login and password. If they have several accounts in Sitebuilder, they can connect them all to a global account and switch between these accounts without entering a password every time.

  3. [+] eShop Module Improvements:

  4. [+] CAPTCHA for Anonymous Site Visitors - To prevent automated spam on sites, anonymous users will be required to enter a confirmation code to be able to register on a site, and to post in a blog, forum, or guestbook.

  5. [+] Fedora 7 support

  6. [+] Ubuntu 7.10 support 

  7. [*] Migration from previous versions - Migration from 2.x, 3.x is full supported and fixed some bugs.

  8. [-] Bugfixes - All serious and minor bugs were fixed, making Sitebuilder 4.1.0 more stable and secure.

  9. [*] Improvements - Sitebuilder 4.1.0 includes a number of various improvements in terms of stability, security, and usability. Working with Sitebuilder is now easier and safer than ever.

5. Known Problems and Limitations

  1. Database is not transferred during republishing.
  2. Supported browsers are: Internet Explorer 6.0/7.0, Firefox 1.5/2.0.
  3. Maximal number of page levels on sites is 2.
  4. Before starting installation on FreeBSD, make sure that your /etc/rc.conf includes the following lines:
  5. Sitebuilder 4.1.0 is available in the following languages officially supported by SWsoft : English, German, Japanese, Spanish, French, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese.
  6. You should re-make  backups due to errors fixed.
  7. Please update PHP to 5.2 on FC4x64 and  FC6x64 if segmentation fault is occured
