If you have Plesk version earlier than 7.5.x installed on your machine, you need to update it to Plesk 7.5.6+ first, migrating all data, and then run the Plesk 8.1 installer. For more information about updating Plesk version 7 or earlier to Plesk 8.1 refer to the Updating Plesk Version 7 or Earlier to Plesk 8.1 section.
Attention! If you are running Plesk 7.5 or later servers in Virtuozzo environment, the update procedure might cause data loss and Plesk server malfunction. SWsoft will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with upgrade of Plesk for Windows running in Virtuozzo environment to Plesk version 8.1. If you want to update Plesk 7.6 or later servers working in Virtuozzo environment to Plesk 8.1, consult SWsoft Inc Sales team or Support team before doing the update.
To update Plesk 7.5 or later to 8.1 on your server using GUI:
plesksetup.exe file.plesk_x.x.x_buildYYMMDD.HH.exe file, where x.x.x is the version number, YY is the two last digits of the year, MM is the month, DD is the day and HH is the hour when the build was created.Note: Acronis True Image Module is not updated automatically with Plesk. To update Acronis True Image Module to version 9.1, you need to uninstall the previous version of Acronis True Image Module, and install Acronis True Image Module version 9.1. Both uninstallation of previous Acronis True Image Module version and installation of Acronis True Image Module version 9.1 should be done via Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Plesk 8.1 for Microsoft Windows > Change.
